GTA 6 release date and platforms: the confirmed answer
The current GTA 6 release date, confirmed console platforms, pre-load timing, and what Rockstar has not announced for PC or Switch.
GTA 6 release date: the current official answer
The GTA 6 release date is 19 November 2026. Rockstar displays that date on the official Grand Theft Auto VI site and links to its Newswire announcement. It replaces older release windows and dates that can still appear in search results, archived articles, social posts, and store pages that have not been updated.
When you check the date elsewhere, look for both the publication date and the last-updated date. An article can rank well while still repeating a previous target. For the cleanest confirmation, use Rockstar’s game page or the newest relevant Newswire post rather than a screenshot without context.
Confirmed GTA 6 platforms
Rockstar currently lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Those are the platforms shown beside the release information and pre-order links. The official support documentation also describes Standard and Ultimate editions for those console storefronts.
| Platform | Current official status |
|---|---|
| PlayStation 5 | Announced for 19 November 2026 |
| Xbox Series X|S | Announced for 19 November 2026 |
| PC | No official release date or launch listing |
| PlayStation 4 | Not included in the current official launch listing |
| Xbox One | Not included in the current official launch listing |
| Nintendo Switch / Switch 2 | Not included in the current official launch listing |
PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are not part of the current launch listing. Avoid treating a retailer placeholder, marketplace seller, or search snippet as a platform announcement. If Rockstar adds another platform, the official product page and support material should change.
What about a GTA 6 PC release or Switch version?
Rockstar has not announced a PC launch date on the official GTA 6 product page. It also does not currently list a Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 edition. That does not prove those versions can never happen; it means there is no official date or product to report today.
Predictions based on older Rockstar release patterns are still predictions. They should not be converted into a date, a pre-order recommendation, or a hardware requirement. See our dedicated GTA 6 PC release status guide for the evidence checklist we will update if Rockstar publishes a PC announcement.
The same rule applies to retailer pages that expose a PC, Switch, or last-generation category before an official announcement. Stores sometimes create internal categories or placeholders for search and inventory planning. A product category is useful only when it leads to a supported product page with publisher confirmation. Until then, readers should avoid paying a third party for an unannounced platform version.
Pre-load, physical boxes, and store checks
Rockstar says pre-loading begins at local midnight on 12 November 2026 for eligible digital pre-orders. The physical Standard Edition is expected to reach retailers from 12 November as well, but the box contains a digital download code rather than a disc. A code received and redeemed before launch can support pre-loading.
Before buying, verify the console family, account region, edition, and delivery format. Do not use the release date as a reason to ignore refund rules or regional code restrictions. The GTA 6 editions comparison explains the differences without quoting a universal price that may not match your storefront.
How GGWaypoint keeps this page current
We use three evidence levels. “Officially announced” means the detail appears in a Rockstar or platform-holder source. “Observed” means it can be seen in official media but may not have a published name or specification. “Unconfirmed” covers rumors, predictions, and claims that lack a primary source. The GTA 6 release date and two listed launch platforms are official; a PC date remains unconfirmed.
Bookmark this page if you want a short answer. For the wider story, characters, map regions, and buying information, start with our GTA 6 starter guide.
We also keep the old answer out of the page title and summary once Rockstar changes it. That helps readers recognize the current GTA 6 release date in search results and gives us one canonical page to update instead of publishing a new date article every time the schedule moves.
