GTA 6 starter guide: the essential confirmed facts

GTA 6 starter guide: the confirmed quick facts

This GTA 6 starter guide is the main route through GGWaypoint’s pre-launch coverage. Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar currently offers pre-orders, presents Standard and Ultimate editions, and hosts an extended look alongside Trailer 1 and Trailer 2.

A PC version and release date are not listed on the official product page. PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo platforms are also absent from the current launch listing. Treat any date for those platforms as unconfirmed until Rockstar publishes it.

The story and central characters

Rockstar’s story summary follows Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos after an easy score goes wrong and places them inside a criminal conspiracy across Leonida. The pair are forced to rely on each other while navigating the “darkest side” of Rockstar’s sunlit setting.

Jason has a background around grifters, the Army, and drug runners in the Keys. Lucia leaves the Leonida Penitentiary determined to make smarter moves and pursue a better life. Official profiles also introduce Cal Hampton, Boobie Ike, Dre’Quan Priest, Real Dimez, Raul Bautista, and Brian Heder. Read our Jason and Lucia guide or browse all character records.

Vice City, Leonida, and the current map picture

Vice City is the central urban destination inside the fictional state of Leonida. Rockstar has also presented the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park. These names provide a regional structure, but Rockstar has not released a complete road map or an exact playable-area measurement.

Use the interactive location explorer for a schematic overview and the GTA 6 map guide for the evidence behind each region. We do not mix leaked coordinates into the official database.

GTA 6 editions, pre-orders, and physical delivery

The Standard Edition includes the game. The Ultimate Edition adds a separate upgrade with named vehicles, weapons, styles, businesses, and activities linked across Jason and Lucia’s story. Standard owners can purchase the Ultimate upgrade later according to Rockstar Support.

Rockstar describes the physical Standard Edition as a box with a digital download code and no disc. Pre-loading is scheduled for 12 November. Before paying, check the console, edition, account region, code delivery, bonus eligibility, and refund terms. Our GTA 6 editions guide and pre-order checklist cover those decisions in detail.

How to use GGWaypoint before launch

Official updates: the best Rockstar pages to follow.
Vehicles: confirmed names separated from sightings and invented stats.
Missions: official story evidence without a fake walkthrough list.
PC status: what has and has not been announced.
Database: source-linked records with evidence labels and fact-check dates.

The GTA 6 starter guide will stay concise while the linked articles carry the detail. That structure lets us update one topic when Rockstar changes it and reduces contradictory answers across the site.

Confirmed, observed, and unconfirmed

“Confirmed” means a name or fact appears in a primary source. “Observed” means it can be seen in official footage or imagery but lacks a complete published specification. “Unconfirmed” includes rumors, predictions, leak-based claims, and details we cannot reproduce. These labels are more useful than presenting every exciting claim with the same level of certainty.
